Tuesday Strangers, you and I
We’ve nearly become strangers, my blog and I. There are several reasons; As you know, I’ve been working hard on exams, visiting my parents, and there’s another reason, which I’ll pronounce later on.
Going to the south, home, was the perfect thing for me this Easter. The weather has been warm and sunny; the perfect reason to stay in the garden as much as possible. S and I travelled down there together, and worked hard in the garden, and enjoyed it.
On friday we were picked up by K and one of her sisters; We were staying the night in the country in her child home – for cosiness and I had been hired for a special job.
Her family is crazy and fun, and we both had a great time with grilling, beer, joking and laughing.
If I didn’t have to work seriously hard on my exam synopsis I would’ve come back all revitalised (I sort of did anyway, but I didn’t get time to enjoy it!). But now the paper has been handed in, and I have slightly more time to myself – I just have to prepare for my oral exam in a week. But for now, I’m enjoying spring.

Monday Happy Birthday Me!

On saturday I celebrated my birthday with my parents and S here in our flat with presents, coffee, delicious foods, talks, museum. I had a great day with the best company, and got great presents. I have an ambivalent feeling about birthdays, but my near ones made sure I had a great day. I even got a birthday song played on guitar! That’s a first!
And as the icing on the cake I got my BA grade today – 10 (B)! And I’m so content and grateful. Especially after I had to make an official complaint, I was afraid it was going to have an influence on my grade. But I’m happy. And ready to start the new semester on thursday. So many things to do before thursday….
Sunday Christmas Nightmare

Some of the photos they’ve taking on their journey – yes, I’d call it a journey! – to go home for Christmas
This weekend has been filled with something else than shopping, cooking and preparing for the big Christmas with the big family.. Worrying about the biggest part of the big family being able to even come and celebrate Christmas with us! My sister, as you may know, lives with her husband and children in Northern Ireland, and – if you live in a cave and don’t know – the UK has been overflooded with snow. THey were supposed to arrive today, but one day of travelling turned into 3 days, but now it’s almost certain that they’re coming. Thankgod. Wouldn’t be fun knowing how many people would get sad over the Christmas because of their absence – me included of course.
Now – I’m just begging for everything to go well!
On to backing cookies <3
Thursday All my memories
In midst of not-doing-my-BA I remembered all the photo frames I had lying in boxes, packed away. For the last many years I have been collecting all kinds of frames – mostly antique ones, because they’re so pretty. While S and I have lived together I’ve never really found space, time or approval from landlords to hang any up, but all of a sudden I thought – why not now? So I spent some time laying them out, cleaning them, trying to find photos. I got annoyed during the project because none of the frames seem to be in a proper size, and half of them can’t be hung on a wall.
I still need to find photos, family and friends of both me and S, but all in good time. Oh, and of course they have to be put up.

On these photos you can spot me as a very young child in our old garden with my dad and my sister, my mum and I, S and I, my sister and her husband, P, my dad as a boy, my sister in her wedding gown, erotic postcards, different family pictures and randoms.. Uh and even a photograph by Nadia!
Now I’m sitting between piles of mess because I couldn’t be arsed tidying what I’ve messed around with. Can’t wait to hang all these and find more photos for the rest of the frames.
Thursday Come fall
By now you can actually smell the autumn in the air. I guess I got caught in waiting for summer, because it came very unexpected. It’s as well been quite a while since I’ve been home to visit my parents. And I miss them and it. I love being at my parents’ house in the summer. It’s magical.
ps. And yes, we watched English crime shows on the balcony this summer! Summer heat, crime shows and white whine, nothing compares!
Wednesday What matters
Even though I’ve been blogging in a personal way for some time now, I was reluctant to post this. When my writing comes too close to my dear ones, I tend to stop. But then again.. What would a blog be without some personality.
I just found out that my oldest friend, T, got a go-ahead to change location on his education, and therefore will be coming to Aarhus to study. Maybe I should start from the beginning.. (if you don’t know already, you’ll know learn that my memory is absolutely, horrifyingly bad. Major holes in it. Just saying)
We’ve been together in school, right from the beginning. We became friend quite fast, as we both always have been very creative and therefore connected in that way. Later on, we did a cartoon together – well, some anyway. My mum had gotten an offer to go on a youth TV-show (Børne 1′eren, for those who remember?) and she offered us to join her in it, as she knew that especially T always had wanted to do a cartoon. It was massive fun. And I think we still have the video recording somewhere. He’s always been silly and foolish, sometimes too much. But it’s his definite charm, and I don’t know one single person like him. And I’m not sure you’d understand until you actually met him.
But we stayed friend throughout most of our younger years – apart from when I got pissed off at him (happened a lot. I was a very pissed off little girl). When we then joined gymnasium, we didn’t talk for a long time. He’d dated my best friend, and when that didn’t work out, I of course had to stick to my girl friend’s side.
But later on we became friends again, probably because of P (they had gained a strong friendship – one that’s still strong today, probably as well stronger that what I and T have). And we still talk often. I love when the old crew hangs out. And after this summer, when P+L comes back from NY, we’ll be able to do that all the time.
The best thing is your best friends.
The photo is T and I in front of my old play house, when me and my family used to live by the habour. Every year T asks me if I remember, and I laughingly say that I do. Thanks to mum for scanning it for me!
Monday Reset

Photo from hardtoexplain
What I really love about being home is like I’ve mentioned before – being reset. The weekend has been great. Wine, great food, chatting, cheesy poofs, gardening, freckles, flowers, antiques, relaxing, beer, new phone, buket of flowers from the garden, rain, massive buckets of coffee..
I’m on to study now, something that I’d like to push and not do until next year. But really has to be done.
Hope you all had a great weekend!
Ps. Lack of photos due to lack of photoshop and needed gadgets.. sorry!
Saturday Home

I went home to my parents house last night, after a meeting with my counselor and a few beers with my fellow students.
I can’t even begin to express how nice it is to finally be home again.
The coffee, the books, the talks, the food, the markets and second hand stores, the old friends.
I’m chilling in a big wingback chair with a mug of coffee, chatting to Nadia and just being.
I appreciate this. And I would appreciate it even more if I didn’t have to pee and if I had Photoshop on my computer!

Monday After Weekend
It’s been a fantastic weekend. Busy, but great. My parents came for a visit on saturday; we had cake, shopped, had Icelandic lamb, wine, and buckets and buckets of coffee, and talked. They stayed overnight and after a lovely breakfast we went to the local bazaar and got all kinds of lovely specialities (spices, veggies, etc). Like I’ve mentioned earlier I love to spend time with my parents, because it keeps me grounded and close to my origins. I always feel more clear in my head and aware. And after a full weekend of sunshine (that seems to continue!) my energy is high and I have tons to do.
Here are fragments from the weekend (1. I planted seeds for herbs – and made tiny green houses, 2. my mum brougt a bucket of flowers and small branches from our garden at home. Beautifully spring-y, 3. sunlight through glass, 4. sunlight through water, 5. candles after dinner):

Wednesday Gone!

Photographs (c) Josef Hoflehner
By now I should have arrived in Iceland! Boyfriend and I are visiting his family (I for the first time) and I’m excited.
Visit was surprise for his wee sister, so I couldn’t write it anywhere :)
Off for a week, have a nice Easter people.
