Oh happy day

Photobucket
This morning when I woke up from my deadly, heavy sleep I actually thought it would be one of those dreadful days, where it’s impossible to wake up and you never get any of those thousands of things needed to be done. But to my surprise the sun is shining leaving me hopeful and happy (having the day off university probably didn’t hurt either). So apart from doing my homework (later, later) I’ve time to enjoy the silence of the sunshine, my home-grown chilies and the beautiful flowers from my significant other.

Tuesday Walking in the sun

The exam-period hasn’t even begun, and yet I’m too preoccupied to focus on my blog. But finally the spring sun and heat came to Denmark, and it’s loveeelyyy! Earlier today I spent a few hours with P and baby E in the sun in the garden, with strawberries, juice and cakes from the bakery. Gorgeous. Because of Easters I’m leaving tomorrow with S, to go home to see my parents, and later visit K & P in the country further down south. So I’m still busy, but hopefully I’ll be able to pop in once in a while. Hope you’re enjoying the sun too!

Monday Come Spring!

This weekend it happened. Spring arrived! With sun and heat and gorgeousness. That I had to study most of the time is a different story.

Later on friday I went for a walk down the main street in the sun, trying to get my mood and energy up up up.

My weekend has been pretty stay-at-homey; I’ve been preparing for a presentation for University, baking (a lot actually – I just realised when looking over the photos!), watching movies and TV-shows, knitting, homey-stuff (such as planting, cleaning..) and trying to make it as enjoyable as possible. It worked out quite well.

Saturday morning I finally got to enjoy my newspaper with my juice and breakfast.

This may look foul if you don’t know what it is.. It’s (what my dictionary calls) Danish brunsviger cake – Soft, light bottom with butter and brown sugar on top. It’s gorgeous! (Here S and I had already eaten half of it.. yum)

Photobucket

Our breakfast smoothies, my new favourite (Strawberry yoghurt, strawberries, banana, blueberries and brambles)

And baked gigantic breads, even more yum!

And found snow drops in the back of our garden, a perfect sign of spring.

And finished three headbands, all in the Icelandic wool. I’m getting in trouble, my production is higher that my usage..

Today we got the presentation out of the way, and later on I’m meeting Á for cosy shopping down town in the sunshine.

Have a lovely sunny Monday <3

Monday Zesty & Salty

Yes. This title might seem a bit off here in the middle of dark January. That’s true, and that’s exactly why I’m making this post. I’m desperately trying to establish a feeling of hope – Hope that the Winter will be over and gone soon, so we can enjoy the zesty greens of nature and the rays of sunshine.

I might be out a bit early, but what the hell.
Over Christmas most of my herbs died as a result of the lack of sun and water, so I had to attempt to save what was left. I decided to crop my cinnamon basil to see if I could strengthen it. Then I got the idea of making a new kind of herb salt (usually I make a rosemary/thyme salt that we all love), and for the fun of it I took some photos in the process.

Photobucket

First I took the leftovers from my cinnamon basil, and plucked the leaves off the twigs as they’re too coarse for the salt.

Photobucket

Then I found out I had some parsley growing (to my surprise both my parsley and my oregano had survived!) so I added that as well.

Photobucket

I took an organic lemon (don’t use regular lemons as there’s too much nastiness in the peel)..

Photobucket

And I peeled it!

Photobucket

And I just put everything into my small chopper..

Photobucket

And added coarse sea salt.

Then you just hit PLAY and whoop! Awesome fragrant loveliness.
It’s so easy, it’s not even funny.

And yes, I might very well be growing old. But I find joy in herb salt and knitting – so shoot me!

Friday Have we met before?

Photobucket

Yet again I’m in the BA-zone. I so I would wish. I pretend to be writing my bachelor project right now, as it’s to be handed in on the 14th of december. No need to say that I’m ridiculously stressed. Normally I probably wouldn’t be, but it’s my bachelor project. Meh.

On top of that everything seems to be going wrong; no need to go into details, but it f*cks me up. All day, everyday.

Today the sun was white, and I could look straight into its magic. It was amazing.

Tuesday This morning..

Photobucket

It’s yet another morning beautified by the beaming autumn-sun. It’s amazing – Especially since my desk is turned towards the garden, and during the day the sun lights up this side of the house.

As I was hit by a sudden urge to sleep yesterday (taking a break after my lecture with Skins and knitting) I got close to nothing done. Merely bits and pieces, but it’s okay. I still feel at easy – which is something new this fall!

Today I plan to enjoy the sun, finish up on some reading (library books that need to be returned) and see the doctor about my headaches. Seems manageable, no?

Photos: 1) The sunlight in the windowsill by my desk, 2) As I promised Nadia, a photo of the scarf that I’m knitting, 3) tiny chillies on the plant I got from my mum a while back, 4) The small bronze leaf  for my rings by the kitchen sink…

Monday A fresh start

When I woke up this morning the windows were filled with dew and tiny droplets of gorgeousness. The sunlight is absolutely gorgeous on this side of the flat in the morning, and today was no exception.

But for once I didn’t have to wake up by sunlight prickling on my eyelids – We finally got curtains up in the bedroom. We got the curtains from home, and the light they give – warm, soft goldenness – makes me feel like I’m home. For once.

I have to keep myself busy this week. I have so much to do, and a lot of it takes a lot of time. Finding a subject for my BA is of course first priority, as I have to hand in my choice in a week. (oh fright!)

Monday Curls and curls

Photos of the flowers of my herb garden.

The days are filled with sun now, and I spent yesterday soaking myself in it, talking to K, then going to the gym. Good times. I have so many small projects to get done, started and finished. But the sun is catching my attention..
Among other things I have to; do new studded converse since the old ones are falling apart, sold some of my clothes, thrown some of it out, start packing, different creative projects.. Enough to do.

I finally found my pol filter yesterday (been gone for over a year) and now I’m all set for whatever shoots the summer might bring.

Wednesday on standby

I know it’s awfully boring to constantly hear about exams, university work and not having a life. It’s over next week – that’s a promise. I realised that I’m gone all weekend and therefore won’t get any studying done, so all of a sudden I’m a bit stressed. So today is all about studying. Reward: Gym and the new Eurowoman (in the sun). My head is already pounding – it started with my allergies being really bad this morning, then turning into a massive headache. Even my skull hurts.

Hearing about so many people being done with their exams, makes me yearn for getting done. SIGH.

Oh and still no news about the apartment. It’s killing me.

My last exam of this semester is on the 24th this month and I can’t wait to get it over with. Before that I have to read my 1000 pages and prepare well, and then I’ll be thankful for an examless summer.
The weather has been really crappy for a while now, and then I look out of the window and see this! Came out of nowhere. So because of that, here’s boring flower photos – all to show the nice sunny morning.

This weekend my dad and I are going to Berlin – just for the weekend. A weekend full of (hopefully nice weather) walking, museums, history, Kleidermarkt! I’m very excited. Especially to get away for a while – even just for the weekend, for a breather. I just need to see something new, and get out of my routines for a bit. And hopefully take a lot of photos.

But first, let’s get this exam over with.
